Our Charitable Purpose

Our work aims to improve the understanding of the factors affecting human health in the workplace and in the wider environment and promotes practices which lead to improvements in the health of workers and the wider population.

We have four main charitable aims:
  1. To carry out research into occupational and environmental health.
  2. To publish and communicate the findings of our research.
  3. To lead the advancement of education in these fields.
  4. To provide independent advice and guidance on occupational and environmental health matters.

We have expertise in a wide variety of diseases and illnesses where occupational or environmental factors may be implicated. These include cancer, respiratory disease, dermatitis, neurological conditions, musculoskeletal disorders and workplace stress.

In 2017-2018, our scientists authored or co-authored 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers, two book chapters, one technical memorandum and four other published reports.
