From Edinburgh to Singapore

IOM opened its first overseas office in Singapore in 2012 to build a link to South East Asia. With initial support from the Singapore government, IOM established international level capacities in Singapore across nanotechnology risk management, occupational hygiene research and consultancy and training.

Work undertaken by the office has included evidence gathering and policy advice for the Government, consultancy and services to local companies and multinational corporations around Asia and the Middle East, and training to health and safety professionals.

IOM Singapore has also provided an opening for wider IOM knowledge and expertise to be delivered to the region, with an opportunity for IOM to address new issues and to learn from the unique and highly innovative culture in Asia.
