Fresh air for the control of hospital infection

Building on an established occupational hygiene capability, particularly in local exhaust ventilation testing, IOM developed a successful hospital ventilation testing service. The service includes the evaluation of healthcare facilities where the control of airflow and air quality is critical, such as operating theatres, sterile service departments and radio-pharmacy units.

The aim is to ensure that critical ventilation systems function according to specifications relating to airflow, pressure cascades and airborne particulate quality.

IOM’s work is seen as an integral part of the infection control regime within these sterile environments, helping to protect both patients and healthcare professionals.
