IOM Appoints Martin Dorchester as New CEO

The Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Dorchester as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking an important step in the organisation’s strategy for future growth and sustainability. Martin will officially take up his role on 16th December 2025.

Martin brings over 30 years of senior leadership experience across multiple sectors including transport, social enterprise, infrastructure, and technology sectors. He joins IOM from Includem, a national Scottish charity, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. His previous roles include Group Chief Executive of David MacBrayne Ltd, one of Scotland’s largest transport operators, and Managing Director of Dixons B2B operations.

Throughout his career, Martin has demonstrated exceptional capability in strategic planning, operational delivery, contract growth and business transformation — with a strong focus on social impact and organisational resilience. His leadership will help guide IOM’s continued commitment to improving the health, safety, and wellbeing of workers and communities, both in the UK and internationally.

Martin commented:
“I am honoured to be joining IOM at such an exciting time in its history. The Institute’s mission, scientific excellence and dedication to improving occupational and environmental health are inspiring. I look forward to working with the team to strengthen its position and ensure a sustainable and impactful future.”
