Sam holds a BSc (Hons) in Life Science (biology and ecology) and the Certificate of Competency (Asbestos) from the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene within the British Occupational Hygiene Society.

She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management (FFAAM), a Specialist Licentiate Member of the Faulty of Occupational Hygiene (LFOH(S)), a Technical Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (TechIOSH) and a Specialist Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (SIIRSM).

Sam has worked within the asbestos industry for over 20 years, beginning her career as a site analyst and surveyor before becoming a freelance asbestos consultant with involvement in the quality management, auditing and training sectors.  She is now Deputy Registrar of the Faculty of Asbestos Assessment and Management, Principle Examiner (asbestos) for the British Occupational Hygiene Society and Lead Auditor for the Independent Asbestos Training Providers (IATP) in addition to being an active member of the Female Analyst Working Group (FAWG).

She is now continuing her career as an expert witness at the IOM specialising in asbestos related cases. Her knowledge and expertise relates to asbestos risk assessment, management of asbestos, surveying, air monitoring, asbestos remediation, compliance and regulatory breaches.
