Lab Services
A highly reputable source of analysis, our UKAS-accredited laboratory services play a pivotal role in helping you protect health and ensuring compliance across workplaces and communities.
How IOM supports effective hazard management
Delivering fast and accurate analysis, the IOM laboratory informs exposure assessments, demonstrates compliance and evaluates the effectiveness of control measures. Reports are often used as evidence for investments in controls, educating stakeholders and in the development of control measures.
Our laboratories provide an extensive portfolio of services, with numerous analyses conducted under IOM’s ISO 17025 accreditation (UKAS Testing Laboratory No. 0374). This ensures strict quality standards, regulatory compliance, and reliable data.
Our capabilities include:
- Asbestos and fibre analysis: Bulk identification, fibre counting (optical microscopy, SEM), asbestos in soils.
- Chemical analysis: GC, GC-MS, ICP-AES, HPLC, ion chromatography for solvents, metals, PAHs, PCBs, isocyanates, aldehydes, and more.
- Microbiological testing: Mould and bioaerosol analysis, Total Viable Count (TVC), tailored packages for air and surface sampling.
- PPE testing: Suit testing for Type 3, 4, 5, and 6 protective clothing.
- Sampling media provision: Tubes, badges, filters for most types of analysis.
IOM offers reliable turnaround times, with standard results available in 10 working days and premium options for faster service. You will be supported by experienced professionals able to answer any questions you have about your results. With a proven track record, we are trusted by industry leaders and government.

Making hazard management even easier
Our laboratory services can be used stand-alone or alongside the sampling services offered by IOM’s occupational hygiene services.
Clients benefit from a multidisciplinary approach, where laboratory analysts collaborate closely with hygienists to deliver a thorough understanding of hazards and how they can be mitigated and managed.
This means you have expert recommendations to implement effective controls whilst managing risks so that you are compliant with exposure limits and environmental standards.
