TEMPEST Database Implementations

Accessing and using the publicly available implementations of TEMPEST.

The TEM that was constructed as a result of the TEMPEST project has also been adapted to make it available for other researchers to download and use.

TEMPEST is likely to be useful at a number of levels:

Please note that currently TEMPEST is based on Scottish data only and results for other countries should be considered in light of possible differences between Scotland and the country where the subject worked or was exposed.

Downloadable versions are available in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access formats. These are not offered as "bullet-proof" software applications but rather as simple implementations of TEMPEST data, to allow its use and exploration by others.

Generally the Access version provides some greater flexibility in the retrieval and arrangement of data (compared with Excel), and includes a basic "front end" menu. In any case, some familiarity with the set up and use of data in the respective packages, Excel or Access, is assumed, together with an understanding of the principles underlying JEMs, TEMs, and their use.

In addition, you are urged to read the TEMPEST final report available from DEFRA in order to fully appreciate and understand the assumptions and caveats with which it was constructed.

You must exercise caution in the application of TEMPEST data, being sure not to alter the data provided “as is” at the time of your download. We neither guarantee nor warrant in any way the data provided or the results produced through the use of the public versions of TEMPEST. You make use of TEMPEST strictly at your own risk.

Further information about the two implementations and downloads is available:
