TEMPEST - A Task Exposure Matrix for Pesticides     iom-abdn-logo

Construction of TEMPEST - Stage 5

Merge data from stages 3 and 4 into a Pesticide Usage Database

The concentration of pesticides used in applications was determined where possible. Pesticide Usage Reports for Scotland allowed the compilation of detailed data on agricultural use from the 1960’s onwards in a pesticide usage database.

The task and pesticide lists were then merged to form a task-pesticide matrix by appropriately allocating the pesticide used to the application task, for each decade. The pesticide usage database was then used to populate the cells of the task-pesticide matrix. For each decade the probability of a particular pesticide group being used for the given task was assigned (the total probability for all pesticide groups used for a given task always summed to 100%).  Information concerning hobby and amenity pesticide concentrations were not available.
