Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Vane Tempest Colliery 1976/77
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Vane Tempest Colliery for the period April 1976 to March 1977. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, method of working, dust suppression and manpower together with the associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts.Concentrations of total dust are also noted and in general were seven times as high as the respirable concentrations. Nitrous fume sampling which commenced in January 1976 is described and the results are discussed. The coalface mean respirable concentration was 2. 9mg/m3. The mean ash content of respirable dust samples was 36. 1 per cent and the mean quartz content 4. 1 per cent, representing a concentration of 0. 12 mg/m3. “”
