Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Vane Tempest Colliery 1973/74
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Vane Tempest Colliery for the period April 1973 to March 1974. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower together with the associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts. The concentrations of total dust is also noted and in general was eight times as high as the respirable concentrations. At Vane Tempest Colliery, the coal face mean respirable concentration was 3. 3mg/m3. The mean ash content of respirable dust samples was 34. 8 per cent and the mean quartz content 4. 9 per cent, representing a concentration of 0. 14mg/m3.
