Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Lady Victoria Colliery 1979/80

This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Lady Victoria Colliery for the period April 1979 to March 1980.Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, explosives used, dust suppression , manpower and mean travelling tines to faces, together with associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts. At Lady Victoria Colliery the main coalface respirable dust concentration was 2.6mg/m3. The mean ash content was 50.0 per cent and the mean quartz content 11.2 per cent (22.4 per cent of the ash) representing a mean quarts concentration of 0.29mg/m3.Face total dust concentrations are tabulated and were on average 5.7 times the respirable concentrations. Total dust concentrations for development, outbye and surface groups are noted. “”
