Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Fryston Colliery, 1977-80
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations for the period April 1977 to June 1980 at Fryston Colliery. As in past years dust measurements were obtained by volunteer carriers operating the MRDE Gravimetric Sampler Type 113A. The information given includes details of the methods of working, ventilation, dust suppression and the usage of explosives. The only compositional analyses available are the quartz concentrations for the control points, 70m back in the returns. The full analyses will be reported later. The Colliery had a mean coalface respirable dust concentration of 3.8Total dust concentrations were also measured and were about five times higher than the respirable dust concentrations. The results of the nitrous fume survey are reported.
