Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Deep Navigation Colliery 1980/81

This report tabulates dust concentrations and compositions at Deep Navigation Colliery for the period April 1980 to March 1981. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower, together with associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts.At Deep Navigation Collierv the mean coal face respirable dust concentration was 4.6 mg/m3. The mean ash content of the respirable dust samp;es was 24.1 per cent and the mean quartz content 2.2 per cent (representing a quartz concentration of 0.10 mg/m3 ).Total dust concentrations are tabulated and on average were twelve times as high as respirable dust concentrations.
