Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Deep Navigation Colliery, 1974/75
This report tabulates dust concentrations and compositions at Deep Navigation Colliery for the period April 1974 to March 1975. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower together with associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts. At Deep Navigation Colliery the coal face mean respirable dust concentration was 3. 9mg/m3. The mean ash content of the respirable dust samples was 21.5 per cent and the mean quartz content 2.6 per cent (representing a quartz concentration of 0.10mg/m3).Total dust concentrations are tabulated and on average were 9.4 times as high as respirable dust concentrations.
