Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Deep Navigation Colliery, 1971
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Deep Navigation Colliery for the period April 1971 to March 1972. Information regarding seams worked, outputs, methods of working, dust suppression and manpower together with the associated dust concentrations is presented in a series of face charts.At Deep Navigation Colliery the coal face mean respirable dust concentration was 5.6 mg/m3. The mean ash content of the respirable dust sampled was 21.9 per cent and the mean quactz content 2.9 per cent (representing a concentration of 0.16 mg/m3).Total dust concentrations are tabulated and on average were eleven times as high as respirable concentrations. “”
