Pneumoconiosis Field Research: Environmental conditions at Coventry Colliery 1977-1980
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations and compositions at Coventry Colliery for the period April 1977 to June 1980 inclusive. Information regarding methods of working, output, dust suppression and manpower is also given. At Coventry Colliery the coalface respirable dust mean concentration was 3.0 mg/m3. The mean ash content of the respirable dust samples was 40 per cent and the mean quartz content 3.8 per cent (representing a mean quartz concentration of 0.11Total dust concentrations underground are tabulated and for the coaling shift were, on average, seven times as high as respirable dust concentrations.
