Industrial trials with the Vickers M88 rapid asbestos fibre counter
The Vickers M88 rapid asbestos fibre counter was assessed by several laboratories each using a prototype of the instrument and with membrane filter samples provided from a variety of industrial situations. The M88 evaluations of fibre density showed a very good correlation with visual counts for textile samples (excluding weaving and some rejected samples) and good correlation for brake lining dust samples, although with a markedly different (ca. × (¼)) calibration factor.
