Environmental conditions at Lady Victoria Colliery, February 1964 – April 1968(Gravimetric dust concentrations)
This report tabulates dust concentrations in mg/m3 for the period February 1964 to April 1968, covering the 16th to 20th Environmental Surveys and the Gravimetric Trial at Lady Victoria Colliery. The method of converting the concentrations, quoted previously in particles/cm3, to mg/m3 is explained. For each occupational group, the concentrations of the respirable fraction of the airborne dust, its ash content and mineral constituents are listed. Where estimates have been required to fill gaps in the data the sources of the estimates are stated.Lady Victoria Colliery, a mechanised colliery, had a coalface (all shifts) mean dust concentration of 2.8 mg/m3 containing 34.9 per cent ash. The mean quartz concentration reported was 0.12 mg/m3. “”
