Environmental conditions at Fryston Colliery, 1968
This report tabulates respirable dust concentrations in mg/m for the period June to December 1968 at Fryston Colliery. It is the first report in which all dust measurements have been made using the M.R.E. Gravimetric Sampler.A brief account is given of coal outputs, manpower, mining conditions, working places and working methods. Methods of dust sampling and evaluation are also given. Concentrations of respirable dust, with the corresponding compositional analysis determinations are given in table form at the end of the report. The coalface (all shifts) concentration at Fryston Colliery was 4.3 mg/m3. The mean ash content of the respirable dust was 54 per cent. The mean quartz content was 7.1 per cent (mean concentration 0.31 mg/m3).
