An ergonomic assessment of the Webster bucket loader
Following the study of the Webster Bucket Loader a number of recommendations are detailed:1. The location of the seat in relation to the foot controls is critical if the operator is to be able to make use of the backrest. It is recommended that the seat floorpan distance be reduced to allowfor a better integration of man and machine.2. The location of the auxiliary hydraulic controls forces the operator to maintain an awkward and uncomfortable posture. It is recommended that these controls be located in a more reasonableposition with regard to the operator.3. The frequency of operation of the power on-off control merits its location closer to and more convenient for the operator.4. To see the packer bucket it is necessary for the operator to stand up while driving the bucket loader forward. This is a dangerous practice but it is unlikely that the operator’s forward visibility can be improved and consequently the practice will continue. If the operator is forced to stand then there should be some means by whichthe operator can brace himself. “”
