Face Fit Testing

A UK leader in respirator fit testing

Face fit testing on respiratory protective equipment

IOM's face fit service is delivered by Fit2Fit qualified staff with more than 15 years of experience. Tests are carried out either on the client's premises or at our office locations. Our high quality service includes the provision of individual guidance and training on the use of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE). Typically the test and associated training takes 30 minutes per individual. We normally have a range of suitable respirators which can be tested should the relevant mask not fit the worker.

Respiratory Protective Equipment may be required when working with hazards such as dusts, asbestos and other fibres; as well as respiratory sensitisers; bioaerosols and where employees may be exposed to public health hazards such as the flu virus. It is a legal requirement that individuals are face fit tested for tight fitting RPE, such as filtering face pieces, half masks, and full face mask respirators that may be required to control exposure.

At IOM we not only undertake the testing of RPE, but we offer advice, training and support across the key areas required by employers to select the appropriate RPE and manage its use in the workplace. We also offer assistance in:

  • COSHH compliance with Regulations 9 and 12 of COSHH.
  • CAR compliance with Regulations 10, 11 and 12 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations.
  • In-house training for clients considering setting up their own in-house face fit testing programme.
  • Auditing of RPE programmes.
