The Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) is the UK's leading independent provider of Research and Consultancy services in occupational and environmental health, hygiene and safety. Our work focuses on the assessment and management of chemical hazards, physical hazards and human factors, and on the consequences for human health in the workplace and the wider environment. We already have an outstanding team of scientists, with expertise in a variety of scientific disciplines, including industrial hygiene, ergonomics, analytical chemistry, mineralogy, immunology, statistics, toxicology, epidemiology and clinical medicine.

Consultant Occupational Hygienist

Strategic Consulting Division

At the IOM we have established a reputation as the independent premier UK centre for occupational health, safety and hygiene consultancy.

This post provides an exciting opportunity for a successful and ambitious professional to further their career, the post holder’s principal role will be to provide an expert witness service in civil litigation, reporting initially to our senior expert witness consultant who is based at Chesterfield.

We are looking for a successful candidate who will have substantial experience as an occupational hygienist, preferably with a BOHS Diploma in Occupational Hygiene and some experience as acting as an expert witness would be advantageous.

The IOM offers attractive terms and conditions, salary is negotiable, according to experience and qualifications.

Occupational Hygienist

At the IOM we have established a reputation as the independent premier UK centre for occupational health, safety and hygiene consultancy. We have a vacancy at our Staffordshire operation and are looking for an experienced occupational hygienist to undertake a wide range of consultancy work and to assist with the management and development of the occupational hygiene and safety operation.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience as an occupational hygienist in a commercial environment. This post is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and self motivated individual to grow within an expanding business.

The IOM offers attractive terms and condition, including a final salary pension scheme. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.

Director of Asbestos Services

Applications are invited for the new position of Director of Asbestos Services at the IOM. The successful applicant will take overall charge of each of our existing asbestos teams, ie those in Edinburgh, Chesterfield, Staffordshire and London.

Applicants must have previous management experience in the delivery of asbestos consultancy services, and hence a thorough understanding of the asbestos service industry. Applicants should have strong leadership and communication skills, a commitment to excellent customer service, a clear vision for the asbestos business at the IOM, and a determination to secure a successful future for this area of the IOM’s business.

The Director of Asbestos Services will report directly to the Chief Executive, and will become a member of the IOM’s Senior Management Team.

This position offers an appropriate remuneration package. It may be based at any of the IOM’s established offices.

Consultant Occupational Hygienist
(Noise and Vibration)

At the IOM we have established a reputation as the independent premier UK centre for occupational health, safety and hygiene consultancy. We have a vacancy at our Staffordshire operation for an experienced occupational hygienist to undertake a wide range of consultancy work, with particular emphasis on noise and vibration, and to assist with the management and development of the occupational hygiene operation.

We are looking for someone who is an experienced occupational hygienist with a specific interest in noise and vibration and at least a certificate in occupational hygiene. Previous experience in a consultancy environment and in an UKAS accredited environment will be an advantage.

The IOM offers attractive terms and condition, including a final salary pension scheme. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
