Oral History Witness Seminar: Occupational Health in Scotland & the UK, c 1950-1975
An Oral History Witness Seminar will be held on Friday 26th October 2007, 12.30-4.30pm in Room A426, Health Building, Glasgow Caledonian University.
The Centre for the Social History of Health and Health Care and the Scottish Oral History Centre are organising a seminar where several experts and participants will recall their involvement in aspects of occupational health in the past. The idea is that narrators share their memories and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues arising. The event will be recorded and the transcript posted on the Centre websites.
Witnesses will include Prof. Michael Jacobsen, (Epidemiologist, Institute of Occupational Medicine from 1968), Jim Whyte (Health and Safety Officer at John Brown’s shipyard, 1965-68, and an activist in the asbestos campaign on the QE2 job) and Dr David Ross (Industrial Medical Officer at Babcocks from 1964 to 1974).
