IOM contributes to first Particle Toxicology textbook

CRC have published the first dedicated textbook on Particle Toxicology. The book is edited by Prof. Paul Borm of Zuyd University Holland, and Prof. Ken Donaldson of Edinburgh University, a close collaborator of the IOM.

It brings together material written by international experts within the fields of molecular biology, physico-chemistry, toxicology and ecotoxicology. In 22 chapters current knowledge on all aspects of particle toxicology is summarised using the classical toxicology paradigm of exposure - dose – response, and a comprehensive account of the history and current status of research in each area is described. Some of the topics covered include deposition, translocation, particle composition, oxidative and nitrosative stress, particulate interactions in the pulmonary, cardiovascular and central nervous systems, and genotoxic effects of ultrafine and other particles

The book contains contributions from Dr Lang Tran, Director of Toxicology at the IOM; and is both edited and contributed to by members of SnIRC, the Safety of Nanoparticles Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration, founded in part by the IOM.
