IOM invests in new ICP/OES equipment
Thermo iCAP 6500
IOM has recently purchased another ICP/OES* instrument - the new, award winning Thermo iCAP 6500. The Thermo iCAP 6500 was awarded the IBO industrial design gold award in 2006 for its particularly original design. The elemental section of our chemistry department provides a key role in supplying our customers with almost all their analytical needs within occupational hygiene and environmental analysis and this investment will enable us to continue to deliver an excellent service. It will further increase our capability to undertake analysis of metals in air, in soils, in paint, in wipe samples and in aqueous fluids, including testing for lead in tap water. It will also increase our capacity to undertake more specialist contracts such as the testing of fibre dissolution rates in simulated lung fluid. This instrument, along with our skilled team of chemists, will allow us to provide our customers with faster, even more accurate results, lower detection limits, and the scope for a far extended range of analysis. The unique CID detector allows the analyst to take a picture of the full spectra, allowing element interferences to be detected and a constant semi-quantitative capability for all elements to be available quickly and easily.
