Effects of second-hand smoke

The ban in England on smoking in all enclosed public places came into force on 1st July. A news feature in Nature focuses on the effects of second-hand smoke. Smokefree England claims that exposure to second-hand smoke increases the risks of a non-smoker getting lung cancer by almost a quarter. The article 'Passive smoking: out of the haze' (Nature 447, 1049-1051) can be viewed at:

The IOM in collaboration with Aberdeen University is involved in an evaluation of the English smoking ban on the health of bar workers.
