Wake up to REACH

The new REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) regulations entered into force on 1 June 2007 and will affect all manufacturers, importers and downstream users of chemicals. In the future, the use of a chemical for a purpose not included within the list of registered or approved uses will become illegal. Those who use chemicals within their business will need to check with their supplier to ensure that their specific use of a given chemical will be covered by the registration process, or make arrangements to register the use themselves.
The IOM is an approved service provider under the UK Chemical Industries Association’s REACHReady scheme (http://www.reachready.co.uk/).
We ran REACH awareness seminars at several of our offices in June specifically aimed at SMEs and can provide a range of services to help you to prepare for REACH by:
- reviewing what implications REACH may have for your particular business;
- helping you through the regulatory maze.
