BT Deep Level Tunnel system in London
As many of you may be aware, IOM have been involved in the uplift and modernisation of the BT Deep Level Tunnel system in London. There are approximately 27 km of tunnel with access via lift and cable shafts.
On 25th March 2009, the Project had achieved approximately 1,000,120 safe working hours since the last reportable accident which occurred on 31st March 2005, almost 4 years ago to the day.
This is a notable achievement taking into account the added difficulties of access/egress and the confined nature of many locations within the system.
It is testament to those who are still on the Project and those who have left but made a contribution to ensuring this site was safe.
Craig Mair of IOM has been based on this site since 2001 and manages the day to day issues that arise in relation to asbestos. IOM also contribute in identifying any other health and safety issues that may have an impact on the project and work with the project team to remedy these.
