Dr John Cherrie becomes President of the British Occupational Hygiene Society
On the 18th April 2007 John Cherrie, IOM's Research Director, began his term as President of the British Occupational Hygiene Society or BOHS.
The BOHS is a multidisciplinary learned and professional society with members in over 30 countries. It is the voice for occupational hygiene in the UK, and offers an unrivalled source of information expertise and professional qualifications for members and non-members.
Dr Cherrie said, "For more than 50 years the BOHS has been helping improve the health of people at work through the efforts of its members in recognizing hazards to health, evaluating the risks posed by these hazards and providing advice about the control of unacceptable risks. During the coming year I hope to continue this good work and in particular highlight the important role that monitoring hazardous agents at work can have in ensuring that reliable cost-effective advice is provided to employers."
