IOM services for offshore oil and gas industry

IOM is pleased to announce that we have expanded our capabilities to offer services to the offshore oil and gas industry. A number of our consultants are BOSIET trained and, through them, IOM can provide services relating to ergonomics/human factors; occupational hygiene; and asbestos surveying and related services.

Ergonomics/Human Factors work includes: risk assessments and risk reduction relating to musculoskeletal disorders; workplace design; and mental well-being/stress related activities.

Occupational hygiene services include: monitoring for a variety of hazardous substances, chemical risk assessments and noise and vibration assessments. Samples taken are analysed by IOM’s in-house UKAS accredited laboratory

Asbestos-related services include: Type 1, 2 & 3 surveys, air monitoring including 4 stage clearance and certificate of reoccupation, supervision of asbestos removal contracts, assistance with compilation of asbestos management plans and other relevant documentation. We also provide asbestos related training ranging from general awareness sessions to proficiency module courses leading to recognised BOHS certificates. These courses are tailored to meet the needs of the client and can be delivered at the IOM or at the client’s onshore premises.

Many of the occupational hygiene and asbestos services are carried out under the IOM’s UKAS accreditation.

Our website (www.iom-world.org) provides more detail on the range of services available in each of these areas and gives contact details for more information.
