Electrograph

IOM is pleased to announce our involvement in a new European Seventh Framework Programme research project investigating the potential uses of graphene.

The focus of the project, known as Electrograph, is to explore the properties of graphene - a material whose development is currently a hot topic within the nanotechnology field - for the use as an electrode material for supercapacitors. The project seeks to help determine whether graphene-based electrodes can be environmentally friendly and sustainable compared to other commodity products. Our work involves risk assessing the potential for exposure to particles from the production and processing of graphene and identifying the safe practice and control measures for workers in the exposure scenarios considered. Our state-of-the-science techniques and knowledge are supporting innovation and commercialisation of nanotechnology by addressing uncertainties and facilitating responsible development.
