Senior IOM Consultant to speak at Scottish Contaminated Land conference

IOM are pleased to announce that Dr Alan Jones will be a keynote speaker at Brownfield Briefing's Scottish Contaminated Land conference in February 2012.

The event will focus on new techniques and practical solutions for investigating, remediating and developing brownfield land in Scotland. Brownfield Briefing will be bringing key expert speakers from across the industry to explore a wide range of current issues affecting Scottish developers, remediators, regulators and local authorities, including a regulatory update, asbestos in soil and managing liabilities.

Dr Jones will speak on assessing the risk from asbestos particles in soil, in conjunction with a presentation on the measurement of asbestos in soil.

Speaking prior to the conference, Dr Jones commented that "asbestos in contaminated land can be especially difficult to assess correctly but a reliable evaluation is an essential step prior to development of brownfield sites."
