The IOM Service
IOM scientists and technicians carry out workplace exposure measurements and recommend appropriate engineering controls, they assist with workplace design and advise on the use of personal protective equipment. Our work can range from large international epidemiological studies to investigate associations between exposure and disease through to small scale monitoring on a single worksite. We carry out health surveillance and statutory medicals where risk assessments deem these necessary. We can also advise on the environmental impact of your operations, and provide guidance on possible risks to consumer health.
The IOM Difference
The IOM has made a telling contribution to the understanding of risks to health in many industries, including coal, steel, petrochemicals, metals, ceramic fibres, semiconductors and many others. The IOM's research tradition, forged over many years, has produced numerous landmark studies, has led to the setting of workplace standards in numerous industries, and has been the catalyst for the development of a wide range of consultancies and services.
The expertise developed through working with many of the 'traditional' industries is readily transferable to the modern work environment, where musculoskeletal disorders and workplace stress are the predominant health issues. Our extensive knowledge of the hazards posed by fine particles enables us to advise emerging industries developing products based on nanomaterials.
