The IOM Service
The IOM's services to Government extend to many aspects of human health, and how these may be affected by hazards in the workplace, the home and in the wider environment. We undertake multidisciplinary research; reviews of current knowledge; development of best practice guidance; health impact assessments (HIA) relating to future policy developments; advice on past exposures to hazardous substances such as asbestos or chemicals, and services aimed at safeguarding the health of public sector employees.
The IOM Difference
Our scientific and medical staff are experienced in working closely with local and national public bodies to provide support across a diverse range of health issues. Several of our senior staff are members of government advisory committees and we are regularly asked to provide advice or evidence to public bodies. We are used to communicating with a wide range of stakeholder groups, including public servants, developers, pressure groups and members of the public. IOM has a reputation for rigorous high-quality work, whether that involves carrying out an assessment of the ergonomic aspects of the use of display screen equipment or a major research project for a government department. Whilst we approach each piece of work from a position of independence and impartiality, we are always happy to discuss with our clients the planning and execution of our work and the interpretation of our findings.
