Partnering in NMP FP7 'innovation' proposals

The NMP FP7 Work Program requires that "health, safety, and environment related issues must seamlessly accompany the development of industrial applications". This requires due consideration of the risks and benefits to ensure the safety of the proposed developments for the full product life cycle, from production, through use, to disposal and recycling.

To support the development of industrial applications we can provide a safety workpackage designed to fit within the context of the proposal which can include, as appropriate,

  • Workplace exposure measurements using state-of the-art instruments
  • Exposure modelling (workplace consumer and/or community exposure)
  • Laboratory simulation of particle release
  • Toxicity reviews
  • In vitro toxicity testing
  • Prediction of health impacts and advice following accidental exposures to hazardous substances
  • Risk assessment (workplace, consumer and/or environmental exposure to chemicals)
  • Advice and validation of risk management measures;
  • Development of appropriate occupational exposure limits
  • Advice on regulatory compliance
  • Life Cycle Impact Assessment

IOM currently provides safety workpackages for the projects NANCORE and ELECTROGRAPH. More information is available on our service card Nanosafety_Life_Cycle_Assessment_for_FP7
